The Indian initiative, in creating mutant resources for the functional genomics in rice, has been instrumental in the development of 87,000 ethylmethanesulfonate (EMS)-induced mutants, of which 7,000 are in advanced generations. This multi Institutional network project is running since 2007 with funding from Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. The mutants have been created in the background of Nagina 22, a popular drought- and heat-tolerant upland cultivar. EMSgardeN22 database hosts all the information about the well characterized 541 mutants for agro-morphological traits, DUS characters and SSR genotyping. Users can browse detailed information regarding agro-morphological traits, panicle architecture, DUS characters, SSR genotyping information, epicuticular wax content, and elemental analysis of the mutants in the Explore section. We have generated high quality genome sequence of Nagina 22 and uploaded its CDS region in the gene catalogue section. We are continuously updating the database by adding more mutants, more traits, images and better quality sequencing data. The users who would like to use the material for research purpose may contact the project coordinator or co-coordinator.
